Cocktail history

Nemiroff Eggnog is a unique author’s cocktail by Nemiroff, inspired by the traditional Scottish eggnog cocktail, which is now well-known worldwide. The cocktail’s name comes from the word ‘egg,’ and the word nog, short for ‘noggin.’ It originated in Scotland in the 14th century. At that time, locals loved to prepare this hot drink to celebrate Christmas. The traditional recipe consisted of just 4 main ingredients: egg, honey, dark ale, and spices. The cocktail has become popular worldwide thanks to its pleasant and spicy taste. It was consumed hot, as it was supposed to be warming.

Over time, this drink became quite famous in the United States. It even surpassed the Scottish success there. It became most popular in the New World. In the XIX century, bartender Jerry Thomas published several variations of this cocktail in his book on preparing various alcoholic beverages. In his interpretations, ale was replaced with rum and milk. Another of Jerry’s innovations was to prepare an alcoholic drink cold without putting it on fire.

In general, the hot Eggnog was created in Scotland, and the cold spicy milkshake is a variation that came from the United States. Nowadays, you can find several popular recipes for this cocktail, which impresses with its rich taste and dense texture. There is a non-alcoholic and alcoholic version. To prepare the latter, you must look at the Nemiroff catalogue to choose the right vodka: Nemiroff Burning Pear and Nemiroff Bold Orange. These vodkas made it possible to saturate the signature Nemiroff Eggnog alcohol cocktail with spicy citrus notes, hints of spice, and herbs. We preferred a hot drink because heating the milk mixture with spices allows you to maximize the flavor.

What will the cocktail taste like?

Nemiroff Eggnog with vodka should be combined with sweet dishes. You can choose any dessert to your liking. But the best solution would be chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, or apple crumble. Keep in mind that all vodka cocktails should be served with appropriate dishes that will better reveal the taste of the drink and will not overwhelm it.
